bring on the bling!

soooooo i'm back in omaha, nebraska for work and it's been so tiring - long days of training and learning...oh lots and lots of learning! haha. i feel so blessed to have met a few girls from cali in the training..we've bonded over the craziness over the past few days AND over dinner and drinks, which definitely help after a long day of learning :) today after work, we decided to go get some mani/pedis :) LOVED the idea. it's always so hard for me to choose the color i want..almost chose a deep, fall red color but opted for this sparkley, glitter polish by OPI called bring on the bling!

this pretty, gold glitter is SO fun! i searched for this color online and saw a blog photo of it on longer square nails and it looked so lovely! i think i'll need to purchase this color when i'm back home in california :)

as i'm getting ready for bed, i was watching E! news (yes, i know..i love celebrity gossip..can't help it!) and saw the show spot lighted andrew mcmahon from jack's mannequin. the show interviewed him at a gibson guitar studio and he spoke about his battle with cancer (leukemia) at such a young age (23). i'm so grateful to have seen him play back in 2004 in san diego, ca when he was in his first band, something corporate. LOVE something corporate and i also love music from jack's mannequin as well :)

sigh...there is something about a guy playing the piano <3 i literally died at the something corporate show when andrew was singing and playing the piano live. there was so much passion and intensity to his music and performance :)

hope you have blessed night! xo

glitter & Psalm 139

...these are a few things that make me smile..EVERY time :)

i hope everyone had a safe weekend. i believe everyone can remember where they were and what they were doing 10 years ago on 9/11..i surely can. that memory is forever ingrained in my mind. it is even more relevant in my life now that my little brother has joined the army and will most likely be sent to the middle east for at least 1 tour of duty. i am so grateful for what our soldiers, policemen, and firefighters do everyday to protect us. THANK YOU for your courage and strength :)

ok, onto some glitter! i LOVE me some glitter!! :) i just received my betsey shoes today! it seriously felt like christmas day when i saw my lil' package on my front steps! i immediately opened the box and couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear when i saw my sparkley shoes! these shoes are even sweeter b/c i bought them both on sale for almost 50% off! LOVE a good sale :)

i LOVELOVELOVE these shoes! my second pair of bj glitter pollys! they are so gorgeous, so much fun, AND comfortable! my sister thinks they're silly but that's ok :) part of life is about being silly! i smile every time i look at these shoes! next i want the cream colored ones :)

i stalked the betsey johnson website for months waiting for these shoes to go on sale and they finally did!! :)

i also recently purchased some other items for sale from freepeople.com and lulus.com!

this is what i like to call the mullet skirt :) yes, it's real name is the fish tail skirt but i like mullet much better ;) i'm not big into trends..i feel so phony and fake - just not me when i try to "pull off" a trend. all summer i've been debating whether or not i like this trend and i finally caved a couple of weeks ago. the pattern & print, the fabric & texture, the versatility & price point of the skirt won me over. i can't wait to wear this as a skirt and a tube dress!

ok so this last dress wasn't on sale and was from forever 21. had to include b/c it's so cute!!

my grandma passed away last week and the pastor at her funeral read Psalm 139 (one of my fav chapters in the book of Psalms). Psalm 139 is one of those encouraging and comforting passages...where the Lord's love is fully shown in David's praises..."...For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be..." LOVE you grandma! i know you are in a better place now! <3

hope you have a blessed night! xo

a day in san francisco...

it feels like it's been forever since i last blogged... i've missed it so! i've just been so busy these past few days with work and life..the usual. anyway, today i found myself in san francisco for a work mtg (i live about an hour away but don't go up that often as it becomes too much of a hassle for me w/ the traffic, the parking, the getting lost situation). sf is known for its cool, chilly, foggy days and i was SO happy to find that today was the complete opposite of that :) warm, mild, and SUNNY. yes, the glorious sun was actually out and shining upon san fran today! i wish i had taken some photos of how beautiful it was in the city!! seriously, the sun being out in sf is like a rare gem :)

soo, after my mtg what did i do?? naturally i went shopping of course! i definitely had to take advantage of the shopping/ stores in the city. i went to a few stores that aren't near where i live, however i ended up only purchasing items from stores that are quite close to me back home (go figure).

i was too lazy and tired from work to take pics of the items i purchased...
h&m - dark blue/ greyish skinny jeans (i really, really wanted the purple ones but they didn't have my size!!)
nordstroms - cozy, cream colored sweater; floral lace tank top; cream colored tank top

so no special purchases here...just your standard getting ready for fall/ basic items.

hopefully my next post will be more exciting :)  goodnight! xo

ps. how is it already september (altho it still feels like summer here)!? august just flew by! but i am so excited for fall and all the cute, cozy, warm outfits to bust out very soon :)
